Samurai 7

Anime adaptation of an old (1954) movie called Seven Samurai. The story was retold and placed in the world of very advanced technology mixed with traditional Japan. It tells the story of the village called Kanna, which "harrased" by group of bandits decides to hire a group of samurai to protect them. Sounds very simple ? yeahh maybe, but every single one of them is a real character and they all create an interesting and deadly party. Last thig that i want to mention - Samurai 7 was a very expensive anime, where one episode was costing ¥32,500,00 ( $300.000) !!! to produce.

What do I think about Samurai 7 ?

+ many, very interesting characters
+ development of characters behaviour
+ unusual and, what is the most important, very good and interesting mix of traditional Japan and hi tech( I was scared how can it look like, but I was really surprised)

- final battle, which was a little bit ridiculous
- having such a big budget, screenwriters should make the storyline a little bit more interesting( after the end of a certain action in the story)
- 3D, for some people it looks cool and fresh , for others it just looks bad

Ghost hunt

One night Maya Taniyama, a young student and her friends stayed in one of the classroom in their schools to tell some ghost stories. They meeting there a mysterious boy, who is really interesting in their stories. Next day, Maya, who took quite seriously the tale about the ghost in their school and decided to check it out in the morning and accidentally destroys a camera placed in the middle of the room. At the same day, the boy which she met last night came to her and told her that he is a ghost hunter and because she destroyed his camera she will need to repay for it...by becoming his assistant for some time.

What do I think about Ghost Hunt ?

+ very interesting and mysterious main character( Kazuya), his behaviour, his past and true identity
+ stories are not boring and fans of criminal,/paranormal stories should be pleased, despite the gender
+ good mix of horror and comedy moments

- anime is done in a form of a few mini stories, which some people might dislike
- a lot of very interesting things were not told or shown in the anime (it's an adaptation of only 6 out of 10 books)
- there is no background for other main characters, so we know about them only a little bit

Blade of the Immortal

Immortal samurai, whose looking for a way to die, a girl whose only aim of living is revenge and a very brutal and dark lands of Japan. Destiny force them to meet each other and Manji, the main character becames the girl's killing machine, hoping that he can find someone who can finally free him from this course, obviously by killing him.

What do I think about Blade of Immortal ?

+ very dark and brutal world
+ some very interesting ideas
+ interesting approach, where people are not just only black and white

- for some people it might be to violent
- anime is based on manga, but it has only the most important bits from it, leaving behind all other action( if i'm right they used only 5 toms from manga) and  those little details, which would make it much better
- the number of episodes is to low, to low to be sucked into this interesting world and to really understand the characters


Blade of Immortal  -  7/10

Samurai Champloo

Another Anime about Samurai... and another good one :p The story begins when a young woman named Fuu is harrased by bandits in one of the restaurants. Then some mysterious guy came and offered to get rid of the bandits in exchange for food. During the brawl another men came and the two of them started to fight to death, not noticing that the building they are in is in fire. Both of them are arrested, and the one who helps them escape is Fuu, which want them to help in the searching for "the samurai who smells like sunflower". Two completely different samurais and a young girl in the middle with a rap music in the background - that's Samurai Champloo.

What do I think about Samurai Champloo ?

+ two completely different main characters ( for me it was like Mugen- Fire , Jin - Ice)
+ good comedy moments ( eating contest, learning to read etc.)
+ interesting fights

- why those two, lone and proud warriors were following Fuu ? (if they were really behave as their personalities describesthem, they would sell her, get completely wasted and then fight with each other to the death)
- soundtrack, some people might like this kind of music(rap), some wouldn't watch just because this one little detail
- moment which was a bit annoying for ME, miracle escapes from death of one of the characters(few times)
